Sermon Audio/Video
One of my more recent sermons can be heard in this recording. The sermon was preached on two occasions, with this being the first. The second time went over a little better, but was nonetheless received well the first time.
Sermon Outlines
An Unlikely Mission
This outline accompanies the first audio recording above. It is a simpler version than the one I actually preached from, but shows the basic structure of the sermon.
Stay Awake!
Though Jesus' prediction of Jerusalem's destruction in Mark 13 does not directly impact us today, there are many things we can learn from Jesus' instructions to his disciples. Such would include the need for being alert for fakes and being found faithful to Christ at all times.
Stay Away From That Woman!
Revelation 17 describes the seductive nature of the Roman empire. It serves as a warning of what will happen to those who put their trust in such a godless, seductive society. It also reminds Christians, that in the midst of a hostile culture, Christ will bring victory to those who remain faithful to him.
God Among Us
Matthew quotes Isaiah 7 to describe Jesus as God among us. It is not a proof-text for the virginity of Mary, though Matthew makes that clear through other means, but is the fulfillment of a wonderful promise. Understanding the proper context of Isaiah 7 not only helps us to understand what Matthew meant by including it in his gospel, but provides hope for God's people.
Sample Sermon Plan
This plan was created to fulfill a requirement for a preaching class. In a real world situation, content will be based on needs of the congregation. Factors that determine actual content include: Biblical literacy of congregation, pastoral needs, Church vision / mission, and special events and themes.
Lesson Outlines
Introduction to the Gospel of MarkThis lesson covers introductory issues pertaining to Mark's Gospel. It is an often ignored and understudied book, but is actually a very good starting place when looking at who Jesus is and who he wants his people to be.
